#Why temperature breaks hold fish
A temperature break is a boundary between two water masses, and boundaries are where the ocean does its mixing. When the two layers disagree, the color change is often the more reliable of the two for finding bait.
Do not chase a magic temperature. The productive water is wherever the gradient is tightest, and it moves every day. Compare today's map with the last clear day's map: an edge that has held position for several days has had time to load up with bait.
